Richard Kiss (b. 1994) completed his photography studies at Budapest Metropolitan University (BA) and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MA). He is currently an assistant lecturer at Eszterházy Károly Catholic University and a doctoral candidate at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts.
Focusing on the technical apparatus of the digital age, Kiss explores how technological vision distorts the process of visual cognition. This inquiry materializes through the construction of alternative image-making devices and custom algorithms, which allow him to investigate and manipulate the flow of visual data. By stripping images of their original context and meaning, he creates data-driven interpretations that reflect on the deformation of the contemporary observer and the changing nature of visual knowledge.
